August 2014

August was the most important month for us this year, it was the month our 2nd son Teegan Matthew Salmon arrived.  Leading up to his arrival we planned a lot of outings, and spent a lot of time walking at the parade of homes to try and get me to go into labor.

Ryker loves his "beep beeps"
We went to the Salt Lake Parade of Homes, Ryker had to wear booties and liked going "upstairs, downstairs," showing us all of the bathtubs, toilets, and sinks, and saying "this room nice."  He has the cutest little voice and thinks he is just one of the grown ups.
So tired from playing with his trucks
We blew up this pool and Ryker loved playing with it in his Grandparent's backyard.  Again he loved putting his trucks down the slide first.

My mom and I took Ryker to a new splash pad in South Jordan, he LOVED it!  It was so fun

He played the most at this splash pad that he has every played at a splash pad

Ryker took this picture of his shoes himself

Uncle Taylor brought his work semi so Ryker could see it.  He thought it was so cool

Ryker was playing a race car game with Grandpa.  His controller wasn't actually hooked in but he sure loved it anyway

Cheese for the camera

On August 15, getting ready to head to the hospital to have Teegan

Just getting admitted

Had to do a thumbs up picture just like when I had Ryker

The smiles before the storm

Teegan Matthew Salmon 8.6 pounds and 20.5 inches long.  I had been dilated to a 3 since 37 weeks and having contractions pretty often during the last few weeks.  At my 39 week check, our Dr. said he could feel Teeg's hand on top of his head,  and Teegan loves to sleep with one hand up by his head even now.  It was a really fast labor, but not the easiest.  I was a 5 the first time the nurse checked me after admitting me, and they started me on Pitocin to move things along.  They moved along a lot faster than expected.  By the time the anesthesiologist came, I was in a lot of pain from the contractions and had to stand up because I couldn't bear to sit still.  I was having really severe contractions the whole time I was getting the epidural placed, but I had to be as still as possible.  The nurse checked me right after the epidural was going and I was already dilated to a 10 so I had done a lot of it naturally.  She let the doctor know we were ready and I could feel a lot of pressure from the contractions, giving me the feeling to push.  I told her I was wanting to push but we had to hold off until the Dr. got there.   He finally arrived and it took about 4 pushes and baby Teeg was here.  The left side was not getting the epidural as well as the right side so I did have some pain during the end, thankfully he made his entrance quickly. Our Dr. actually guessed his weight accurately as soon as he was out.  We were overjoyed to finally meet him.  When Jeremy and I saw the ultrasound pics at our 19 week appt., I told Jeremy that Teegan's nose looked different than Ryker's had, and sure enough their noses are different, but there are a lot of other similarities.  Everyone says Teegan looks just like Jeremy, looking at Jeremy's baby pictures I can definitely see the resemblance.  It will be interesting to see what he looks like as he grows.

The miracle of birth is so amazing.  How our bodies can create a human being and they can breath on their own immediately after making an entrance to this world is so miraculous.  I feel so blessed that I have been able to have two beautiful children.

Brothers meeting for the first time.  The love and affection Ryker shows to Teegan is indescribable.  It was an immediate connection and bond as soon as he layed eyes on him.  He walked in the room with my parents and climbed right up on the bed and kissed Teegan.  He knew exactly who he was.  He has not gotten mad or upset towards Teegan at all.  Even when he is upset for not getting his way, or not having all of the attention, he still comes over and hugs Teeg.  Ryker wants to help make his bottles and change his diapers and hold him and help him stop crying.  It is actually a bit overwhelming, he is that helpful.

Welcome to your new world little Teeg!

Holding Dad's hand

So proud to be a big brother!

Ryker loves to hold and kiss Teeg, he also loves to nuzzle his head.  He also tries to give him "knuckles" and make him wave hi.

He is such a cuddle bug

I was holding Teeg and Ryker had to come cuddle with us and fell right asleep

Going for a ride, we ran out of battery and I had to carry Ry and the ATV back home.  Ry was not too happy it wouldn't work and didn't make it too easy to do.

My three boys

Ryker always lifts his head up to stretch and looks like a little turtle.  My mom said I did that when I was a baby also, and so did Ryker

Love his chubby cheeks

Ryker and Teegan, Whitney and Tessa, Taylor and Stockton.  My friends Jenae and Angela had babies recently as well so we took advantage of maternity leave time to have some playdates.  It was so much fun, I could definitely get used to it!

Ryker had to try out his brothers play toy

Teeg's favorite position

Ryker will only eat the frosting out of cookies, and I found this special site when a package of cookies was left out.

Bath time!

He is one week here

Uncle Tanner got some new drums and I found Ryker playing them, I thought it was Tanner!  He is pretty good.  Here are a few facts about Ryker that I really want to make note of.
-He seems a lot older than 2.5 years.
- He says funny things like "That'll work," "When baby bigger, he play trucks and baseball with me." at 6.5 weeks he started saying "baby big now."
- He asked if I was tired, I said yes, then he asked if I was happy and I said yes, and he said "me happy too mom."  It was so cute.  Now he says he is happy when he doesn't want to take a nap.  Apparently being happy means you don't need sleep.
-He constantly wants to go to Grandma and Grandpa Ault's house.
-He loves the Nike store and says "wanna go to Nike."
- We visited Jeremy's Grandma Burton and she had two play vacuums at her house.  Now he says "Go vacuum house mom" when he wants to go there.
-One time Teegan was crying and I walked in the room to find Ryker had climbed in the babyhome sleeper with him and was giving him his binky to help him feel better.
-When my friend Angela said her daughter Taylor said Uncle Tanner was handsome Ryker said "me handsome too" and then said "Tanner Nike"  because Tanner always wears Nike stuff.
-He loves to play with backpacks and lunchboxes and puts things in them and his pockets all the time.  He especially loves money and calls it cash.
-He is so cute at singing, especially "Take me out to the ball game."  It is the best when he says "buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks.
- He likes to be fake burped and rocked like a baby when he sees Teegan getting burped and rocked.
- He has a funny deep voice he talks in, I have no idea where he learned it.
- He knows he is funny and he often fake laughs.
-He loves "mac cheese."
-One time I was burping Teeg and Ryker said "me burp baby mom" and while patting him on the back Ryker acutally burped and Ryker said "oh burped me" and laughed.
- He loves to color and draw, and he is very good at it, and has a great grasp on a pencil or pen.
-He started saying "well well" like "well look what we have here."
- He also says "Oh Teegan, oh mom, oh dad, oh me."  In an exasperated tone.  It is so cute.
-One time he woke up from a nap screaming and I asked him if he had a bad dream and he said yes and I asked what it was about and he said "Ant scare me, Daddy say go away ant, bam bam and put in garbage."  He thinks flies are ants, and hates flies so I am thinking it may have been a fly that got swatted.  So funny how they describe things.
