Ryker's nursery

I had so much fun decorating his nursery. Alicia helped me with the wall decals and they turned out great.

Ryker's 2 month check-up

Today was Ryker's second Dr. visit. We are one day early but I have to go back to work tomorrow so we had to squeeze it in. He was so good during his check up but cried during his shots which was expected. It was still very hard to see him so upset though. The rest of the day he was pretty fussy and just wanted to be comforted, poor little guy. Here are his stats:
Weight: 12 lb 2.5 oz
Height: 23.25 inches
Head circumference: 15.7 inches

At this age he

Wears 3-6 month clothes
Smiles
Coos and babbles
Holds his head up all by himself all of the time
Kicks his legs nonstop
Always likes to be busy
Loves to snuggle
Likes singing and peekaboo
Has started to grab at things
Tries to suck on his whole hand
Is very observant
Laughs in his sleep
Pouts by sticking out his lower lip when he is upset

Whenever he is fussy I can just pick him up and whisper in his ear and he calms right down.

He is happier when he has more sleep just like his dad.

We love him so much, here are some recent pictures

First photo shoot

Ryker had his first professional pictures done at 1 and 1/2 weeks old.  He was not happy at first, all he wanted to do was eat.  Luckily, after some nursing he fell asleep and then we were able to get a few pictures without him screaming.  I still think even the pictures with him screaming are adorable though! Here are a few of our favorites.

Ryker at 1 month

Time has been flying by and it is almost time to post his two month update!  I can't believe it.  Each day we fall in love with our little one more and more.  As soon as we brought him home he was wanting to hold  his head up on his own.  He also rolled onto his side when placed on his stomach the second day home.  I was able to video tape it, and was super surprised when he pushed his little body over.  He loves to be held and cuddled, loves white noise and has a hard time falling asleep.  Although, he takes little cat naps in my arms every time I feed him.  He has also gone through periods where all he wants to do is eat nonstop!  It was hard at first because I didn't feel like I was accomplishing anything throughout the day, but I soon realized that feeding him was the most important thing for me to be doing and I have been cherishing every moment since.  He also loves to go for car rides.  At his two week check up he was back to his birth weight and did such a great job until he had to get his PKU testing done.  Unfortunately he had to go back in because the test wasn't good enough and they had to redo it!  Poor boy, it went much better the second time.  He is such our little cuddle bug and loves to lay on our chests and sleep.  Some nicknames that we call him are: Ry Ry, monkey man, little man, and munchkin.  Here are some pictures from his first month.

Welcome Ryker!!!

Our sweet baby was born April 1st at 2:34 in the morning and we couldn't love him more.  He weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 20.5 inches long.  He had brown hair which was surprising because we thought we would have a bald baby as we were both pretty bald. My due date was the 30th but I didn't go into labor until the 31st at about 7:30 when my water broke.  We arrived at the hospital and after verifying that I was in labor, we let our families know that we would be having a baby soon!  My labor was pretty painless, I had an epidural and could feel a lot of pressure but it was not bad at all.  Ryker's heart rate was dropping very often, he was not tolerating labor very well so I would have to push and then turn on my side, then push and turn on the other side to try to keep the heart rate up.  When he made his appearance, the cord was around his neck so neither Jeremy nor myself were able to cut it.  He had to be checked out by the NICU unit due to some concerns that our doctor had, but after making sure he was healthy, he was wrapped up and placed in my arms.  He looked right at me and I fell instantly in love.  Being a mom is better than I could have even imagined!  Jeremy agrees that having a child is the better than he could have thought as well.  Here are some pictures from his birthday.

Baby Showers for Ryker!!!

I was thrown three wonderful showers to celebrate Ryker.  The first was thrown by my mom, my sister Alicia and my sister in law Jamie.  They worked really hard and had super cute chocolate suckers in the shapes of animals as well as homemade peanut butter cups, croissants, veggies, chips, and cookies.  We played some fun games.  I was given many great gifts including minky blankets from Alicia, a baby swing from my parents, a bouncer from Jeremy's mom, crocheted blankets from my Grandma Ebell and my Grandma Ault, both which are beautiful, and many many more!  It was so fun to celebrate Rykers upcoming arrival.  I didn't realize my camera was not charged for this shower, so I will have to get some pics from Alicia to post.

My next shower was thrown by Jeremy's mom, sisters Kylee and Marissa, Grandma Burton, and Tatiana Burton.  We played some great games and had some good food.  Here are a few pictures

My last shower was thrown by my amazing friends, Jamie, Kristi, Hannah, Amy, Traci, Kadie, Jenae, and Angela.  They each made it such a special day and I love them all!
